best quality repo 1860 saber that I have seen
My father has a replica saber similar to this, and I always wanted my own. When I was shopping for a sword for opening champagne bottles for a party, I saw this sword. Instead of buying a cheap $39 saber made in a third-world country, I bought this one. It is a magnificent and well made sword. I suspect that it is better quality than the originals. I used it to open one bottle of champagne as a test, and it performed this task flawlessly. However, I cringed at the idea of using this beautiful sword to open more champagne bottles, so I put this piece away, and ordered a cheap sword for the purpose of opening bottles! If you are in the market for a great cavalry saber, and are considering cheaper alternatives, I would urge anyone to spend a little more and buy this quality saber - I think that you will be glad that you did.

NOT AS ADVERTISED
This is NOT the Windlass Cavalry saber that is advertised by Link Sky on Amazon. In no way is it even close. What I received was marked on the box with the item #902931-BK. I looked up this number on google and it shows up as a very cheaply made sword from India. One that is valued at half the cost advertised for the one I was supposed to get. In the attached photos you can see that there is no markings on the sword like the Windlass, just stamp/engraved INDIA. The leather piece between the handle and blade was torn as well. The handle is cheaply wrapped and the leather on the handle doesn't go all the way around. I reached out to them with multiple questions and asking just could I get what I paid for... wasn't worried about refund, just wanted the right sword. No response at the time of this review. Buyer be wary. This is NOT the Windlass, Atlanta Cutlery Saber advertised.

This is the sword you want. You know it ...
This is the sword you want. You know it. I know it. Don't even think of that cheap imitation knock off because this is the real deal. This sword has it all. It's durable, made with quality materials and will hold up for you when you have to charge up the stairs while pretending to be Teddy Roosevelt. It's bully. Just bully. Now if you'll excuse me I have important work to complete in Panama.

Not a Windlass 1860 Light Cavalry Saber
While this product was fine in and of itself, I give my score because it is NOT a Windlass 1860 Light Cavalry Saber as stated in the description. Rather it is a generic Civil War saber, with poor balance, weight, and craftsmanship. As seen when comparing the pics on the sellers page vs the one I took here, they are different. The Windlass 1860 specifically does not have India eched into it, but rather the proper information found on an origonal (US 1863 etc). Furthermore, the double fuller, or lack there of is missing altogether. Don't waste your time with this. If you simply want am ok US civil war saber to hang on your wall, then you can get one elsewhere on this site for half the price.

This saber is a good replica
This saber is well built and very close to other sabers I have used in Civil War reenactments. Atlanta Cutlery packaged it very well and it arrived quickly. They added another bonus by including a small package of metal polish to keep the scabbard looking good.

Great Saber
I have wanted one of these since I graduated from Cavalry Scout OUST back in '84. It is the real deal.

this is not a windlass 1860 light cavalry sword.
as the other new reviews have stated this is not a $140 windlass 1860 light cavalry sabre. the abomination i received is a cheaply made clone, worth 30 bucks at most. i am very disappointed, and am in the process of returning said mall ninja wall hanger.
