External Blu Ray Drive, USB 3.0 and Type-C Blu Ray Drive Portable Blu Ray DVD/CD/BD Player, 3D Optical Bluray Drive Compatible With Windows XP/7/8/10/11 Macos for Macbook Laptop Desktop

We have a couple of new laptops here, neither with and inbuilt optical drive, and there are times when I need one. I also run a FriendlyElec NanoPc-T6 RK3588 Ubuntu based mini-server. Unless it's needed elsewhere, the drive is kept plugged into the mini-server, and it's performed admirably. However, my main Blu-ray player which is the best part of 15 years old has recently started getting a cranky on the mechanical side. So with the correct software loaded on the mini-server, I'm now using the drive on the mini-server to play Blu-ray discs too. For me in Ubuntu Linux, this works perfectly! Everything I've thrown at this drive, It's managed without a problem. If I had any criticism, it would be that the case tolerances are too tight - but nothing to drop this down from 5 stars!Little addendum: I've had an issue with the drive today - it wouldn't play a disc! Seems, everything I've used in it up to this point was region free, today I actually had to set it to region 2!

The drive simply doesn't work. Tried on multiple PC's, and 9 times out of 10 wasn't even detected by the OS, and when it was detected it couldn't read any disc. Including retail Blurays, DVD's and DVD ROMS. All of which work absolutely fine in other devices. Even if you do get a working one, the build quality is very poor. it's made out of very cheap feeling plastic, and the USB cable is permanently attached to the drive is very short, so I still wouldn't recommend it even if it wasn't DOA.

Very disappointed in this product. Works fine with standard DVD but when I tried play a blu-ray it just kept hunting to play. I googled the issue and something about firmware stopping Blu-Rays playing. If your going to sell a product then make sure it can play the media and make it easy to update the firmware if required.

I purchased this Blu Ray drive for my new mini pc as it doesn't have one fitted. Worked without any problem, it reads all of my old disks as well as burning my existing dvd disks.I purchased a different drive before this one that wouldn't recognise either of my computers so I returned it to Amazon who refunded me within a matter of hours.I recomend this drive for ease of installation, sturdiness and value for money.

Worked out of the box, no additional software needed. Happy with purchase.

I plugged this into my Mac, instantly recognised and worked. I am very pleased. Currently about halfway through ripping my DVD collection about 500gb so far.

I cannot stress how bad this drive is. It disconnects itself from my PC when trying to read discs. It's loud when running at full speed. It's extremely poor quality. The cable is very short, so to have it reach me, I tried to use a USB extension cord - not a chance. It can't even eject the disc tray when an extension cord is used! I've had it plugged directly into my PC all morning and now it's showing signs of struggling to eject too, even without an extension cable.I know you probably want to save a couple of pounds, but believe me, it's not worth it with this drive. Stay clear, go for one that's a bit higher quality. I'll be printing out a return label today to send this garbage back.
