Update 6/3/25: I'm changing my review to five stars, to reflect the experience I had with the company after I complained about the below. They were able to identify a problem in their supply chain which they were also able to correct, and I can no longer say it's a different product. It's the same instant kava I grew to love in the past year or two, and I am still a happy customer. This is easily the best instant kava that doesn't look like it came out of a meth lab. And while I expect nobody drinks kava for the taste and flavor, it's back to the flavor I associate with good quality, strong kava. It's worth your time and money to try it once!I'm so disappointed. According to Amazon, I've ordered this instant kava more than 35 times, and for the first 30 or so, it was hands-down the best instant kava I've ever had. But something changed in January 2025 or so. The color and flavor are dramatically different from what they were before. The color is lighter. I suppose you might say it's a more mild flavor, but IMO people don't drink kava for the mild flavor, know what I mean? And the potency is remarkably worse, while the amount that will make me feel ill is either the same, or less than before! In short, it's just about exactly like every other instant kava I've ever tried, which is a real bummer. Koa was the best. What happened, guys? Bring your old product back.Lest you think I'm imagining this, I found myself at our summer home a few days ago, on an errand, and discovered a bag of the old stuff, likely from June or July 2024. Sure enough, it's remarkably different in flavor and color, and effects. And I'm almost out. Boo! And I guess bula! Please bring back the good stuff, Koa.

Not the worst tasting Kava I've ever tried. Convenient and pretty dang potent! 4g is a relaxing dose!

I have bought this product several times and have always been happy. The last two times, the flavor, smell and efficiency has changed drastically. It has a chocolate aftertaste and doesn’t numb the mouth like it used to. Something has changed recently and it’s not as good as it used to be.

Fast. Potent.

I got a bad rash and was itchy from this product.

Up front: This is GOOD Kava. A few reviewers question the efficacy of this Instant Kava but we both find it to be very effective.In reference to negative reviews: NO Kava tastes good. It all tastes like dirt because it's ground up plant root. Regarding the cost: We do twice the recommended serving which costs $2.63 each for the 4 oz. bag. This provides a nice evening "buzz" for the cost for one glass of wine at home from a $10 bottle, and no hangover the next day because well, who drinks one glass?That's our review. Have a great day. Maybe it will work for some, but it hasn't for me. I'm new to kava, but I read for hours and hours to make sure I was prepared for how to consume and what the effects should be.I tried 2 tsp in warm water on an empty stomach on day 1, then 3 tsp the next day, 4 tsp the next day. I just took 5 tsp all at once and was unable to feel any changes whatsoever from baseline in any of these attempts.I will keep cracking at it, however, and I'll report back if I'm able to overcome this supposed "reverse tolerance"--which seems unlikely. For now, however, I'm not thrilled with the purchase.I plan on purchasing Nakamal at Home brand instants in the future to see if those do me any better.

I’ve tried so many brands and always end up ordering this one again immediately. You will not be disappointed.
