I installed these rails on both sides of my king size mattress. After my lumbar spine surgery I needed a way to use my hands and arms to help me roll my body from side to side so I could sleep on either side or on my back. These rails gave me something solid to hold onto and thus helped me to manipulate my body during that rolling process. I am a bit overweight and rolling from side to side was not always an easy task even before my surgery. Since the size of my kingsize mattress only lets me reach one railings at at time, I fastened the supplied strap onto the upper bar with the rubber on it on one of the rails which allows me to grab the strap with my hand. By pulling on the strap I can roll my body onto the side.All this sounds a bit complicated, but it is not and works great. I did not have to strap the rails to the bed frame for stability. I slipped the lower part of the assembled rails between the box sping and the top mattress which holds the rails very solidly. These bed rails are also very useful for getting in and out of the bed. The rails are of good quality and are very easy to assemble. The part of the rails that slips between the mattress and the box spring is adjustable; I fully extended it for good stability when positioned between the mattresses. The vertical part of the rails is also adjustable to accommodate different thicknesses of mattresses. I am very happy to have found these rails at Amazon, they have made it much easier to move/roll my body from side to side and to get in and out of bed. Also, the rails are narrow enough and do not interfere with getting in and out of bed.I can highly recommend to install these rails, they have made my live so much easier. I think the price is a very fair price for these high quality bedrails. Amazon delivered the rails one day after placing the order. How much better can it get.

I'm not yet "elderly", but I have back problems. These are amazing! They give support for the "log roll" necessary for me to get out of bed. I wish I would've had them when I was recovering from spinal fusion surgeries. They're easy to use, and have held up well for a year. My only complaint is the little hooks for the pouches are fiddly; the pouch often pops off. The metal holder is frequently bent, so I'm not sure how long it will last. Otherwise, this is a must-have for anyone with back problems or recovering from surgery

Easy to assemble, very sturdy, didn’t need to use the strap that came with it because the mattress was heavy enough to keep it from moving, this really helps my wife get in and out of bed. Our bed is pretty high and she finds this very helpful and likes that it has the foam on the handle for a better grip. We had bought another type of rail before that wouldn’t stay in place and my wife was afraid to use it half the time. This one is way more convenient and so much better. Would recommend this to anyone who needs help getting in and out of bed.

I have a variety of health issues where something like this is very helpful! I'm honestly thinking of buying another, and just putting it at another corner, so to have more support - because these items really rock! I'm not even using the kind with the cord/strap at the end, and that's okay, it's still quite solid - also very easy to put together (they have a video that is very helpful). So yes, I do recommend this product! :)

The product worked very well for my husband who had a total hip replacement to help him get out the bed with easy.But It arrived damaged from the handle it was dented and the plastic was like burned. But I didn't returned as he needed very badly. So we decided to keep it as it did help him.

My dad had shoulder surgery and was unable to sleep in bed. He tried a recliner and sofa. For several days he complained of no sleep. I saw this bed rail and it was wonderful. It’s the perfect size so my dad could grab with his good arm and get in and out of the bed. My dad finally could sleep and the this bed rail worked well allowing him the autonomy of getting up as needed. Very easy to put together and has a strap if needed.

Perfect. We bought 2; one for each side of the bed. They provide just enough help to stabilize an elderly person who needs to rise from the bed.
