I used this for digitizing some old negatives. Rather than laying the negative on top of the device. I put my negatives between two sheets of glass, then raised it a couple inches off the lighted surface, otherwise there may be a grainy effect from the device lighted pixels.. I Positioned may camera about 3 inches(the distance that worked for me) above the negative and took a shot. On my cheapo motorola phone I found that the straight picture works better than the macro. It works. There is all kinds of free, cheap, software you can use for adjusting contrast, cropping, color, etc. I used an ancient version of NikonView 6 that I had on an old disc from 10 years ago. You COULD probably use an old IPAD to generate the same lighted surface, but this is larger, and the price is nothing. I did about 500 pics throughout the day. Now at editing stage, which will take a while. Recommended.

After hundreds of using a single slide viewer, I ordered this and found it to be very useful. Three levels of light intensity make it user friendly. The ability to view several slides in a group made a much more efficient use of my time; it really sped up the process. Good value for the money.

Bright display but it has flaws. It is not uniformly bright. It appears to have a few leds out. These look like rings left by a wet glass on a table. Not 100% suitable a a slide or negative copy light but works great for kids traces or needle point. Good price and well packaged

I wanted something to review my negatives on after being stored in a sheet. This works perfectly for that. I like that it is slim and flat. I don't mind needing a power cord because I hook up a small battery pack and this unit runs for a long time off that. I may try and use it to scan negatives since the lighting does look even enough and multiple brightness levels, so with an additional diffuser, it should be great.

I am very impressed with this slide/film viewer. Priced very reasonably. Works great! I haven't tried the APP yet but even with our the APP I was able to get a decent picture on my phone from the slide on the light screen.

By turning on color inversion on my phone, I was able to use the light box to view my negatives! Love it!
