A very effective pre-formed pond liner
Before I purchased this pre-formed pond liner, which I am very pleased with, I read the reviews, particularly the 1*, 2* and 3* ones and I felt some were a bit unfair, so this is my take on buying & installing the Bermuda liner. The pre-formed liner is a light item that comes in in a light box with 'fragile, handle with care' tape, all over it. The condition of the box doesn't matter! I checked the pond by holding it up to the light. I would have been able to see if there were any damaged areas. There were none. The pond doesn't weigh much but it looks and feels reasonably robust. It's a sheet of plastic stamped out into the pond shape, so obviously there will be thicker and thinner areas. For a couple of hundred pounds, I could have bought a more substantial pond liner. This was £50.Basically it's just a barrier to go between the water and the soil. It's a pleasant shape and easy to man-handle. However it is not a stand-alone pond and if it isn't supported underneath and at the sides, the weight of the water will make it bow outwards. Similarly, if too much filling is forced in, say by using ones feet to over compact it, the shape will distort inwards. It's a balancing act but you soon get the hang of it.Once the hole is dug, a few inches deeper than the liner and with enough of a gap at the side to get your hand in and to avoid the filling going into the liner rather than round it, the worst is over. The sand at the bottom needs to be levelled with a spirit level. If you then put in the liner and wiggle it slightly, you can lift it out and you should be able to see where you need to build up the filling to support the shelves and the wildlife ramp. Once they are supported you make sure the rim of the pond is completely level in all directions before part filling with water. Initially I stopped a bit above the shelves. At that point the pond becomes more stable and the filling can go in the sides, working from side to side of the pond and checking that it remains level as you go. You can add more water as you go along too, to check nothing is getting distorted. The only problem I had at the end was making the top edge look attractive. The edge is curved, so needs soil underneath it for support, but it then is slightly raised which makes overlapping rocks look a bit unnatural. I think planting in and around the pond will solve that problem though. All in all I am thrilled with my new pond. The liner was very reasonably priced and has worked well. I would definitely recommend it. PS. I'm a 77 year-old and I definitely didn't install the pond in 2hours!

Great pond
At first I thought is was very flimsy but as soon as I got it in the ground and put all deco around I was pleased with the result. Its a strong pond perfect for wildlife. Would highly recommend.

Great pond
Nice size, depth and shaped pond liner. Quite sturdy. Needs a bit of effort to dig in to ground at different levels to support liner. Filled gaps with sand and fine gravel. Took approx 2 hours to dig and put in to place. Soil is easy to dig in my garden. Gradually added edging and plants, solar aerator and small solar waterfall over a few days. Pleased with my efforts. Just need to wait for some frogs, newts and other pond creatures now.Has a slope from pond for creatures to get in and out of safely.

Wildlife pond
The media could not be loaded. Great item, have added pond plants and features, has attracted all passing wildlife, I've not finished off the ground work around it all yet, it's been a superb purchase so far.Great value for the money so far.Installed easily enough once the hole was made and linned with soft sand the pond went in easy..Wished i had added a pond years ago.Would recommend the item for the price..

Great, easy pond for those who have never had experience before.
I bought this product so that I could build my first wildlife pond into my first woodland garden. I am an avid young gardener and this product really has been great. Was a very easy abd straightforward product - the only difficulty was grtting through my extremely heavy clay soil that was littered with bricks and old tree roots all the way down. After digging a hole the right size (spray paint works well for marking it out) and remove any sharp stones or other objects from the edges of said hole, you simply backfill with sand to provide a more forgiving surface for the preformed base to sit on, potentially exending it's life quite dramatically as, once filled, the weight of the water can press onto hard objects such as stones that may lay underbeath the base, eventually causing it to crack and drain out. I found it a very easy solution for a first time pond "build."The size was good. I have a very small "postage stamp" garden and so it was a nice size for me, whilst still being deep enough for frogs and some dragonfly species tolive on or hibernate over winter without being frozen solid. There are two shelves, with which I have filled with kidney pond baskets filled with several plants, along with a tiny waterlily variety and some oxygenating plants for under the water surface. This is plenty enough to fit in with the heavily planted borders that surround the pond.Perhaps my favourite - and a much needed - feature is the wildlife escape slope. This helps to stop any creatures such as hedgehogs or even frogs from falling in and being unable to leave the pond, eventually drowning. Although I definitely recommend adding a couple of small logs as I have done to allow other exit routes - it also allows more variety of habitats for different species of dragonflies. All in all, a great performing, very easy product for use as a first time or just a quick and easy pond build. Although I think if I moved I would perhaps prefer to now make a custom pond using pond liner, instead of a pre-formed. But I would still perhaps use another of these products as a second pond tyat would be much easier to manage.

Small and Flimsy
Well I am no Charlie Dimmock, but this is not an impressive water feature. Made with flimsy plastic that if you are not careful to fill it as you back fill it will bend and buckle leaving you with a slightly less desirable pond. Value for money? yeah, you buy cheap you get cheap? so I guess. Easy to install? Well I was the one who had to dig a the hole... so no not really. Now if it wasn't turfed over the fence and left by the courier in the rain I probably would have returned it if the box could withstand it. Soggy boxes do not travel well.
