Product remains true to original. Offers high quality
I am an adamant believer that you get what you pay for, and in this case I wanted a quality notebook. This (computational) notebook certainly meets that requirement. You might ask why pay (around) $8 for a notebook, especially in this digital age. Well, that engineering sketch, that graphic rendition, lab result, college note-taking, and many other things just don't transfer to a phone as readily. There's still a need to write, and a need to keep something on paper for a while. That said, if you're reading this, you already known that "National Brand" supplied these to the US Government for many years, part number "43-648." I compared my new notebook from Amazon to one from the 80's (yes, they hold up that well.) The paper weight remains the same. The blue rulering is much darker than my original. Two *bold blue* lines run horizontally across the top. Another runs vertically 1.25 inches on the left (even pages) and 1.25 inches along the right (for odd pages). This exactly matches the original. And of course, *fine pitched* lines run across the whole page. Some may feel the darker color might interfere with their writing (maybe my original faded?) Both are still 75 pages. The white printed label is a little different, but highly reminiscent of the original. I know this is nominal, but the overall look and feel (quality) remains the same. While the overall size 11.75 x 9.25 inches remains the same, there is one significant difference: The newer notebooks have pointed corners on the right edge. The original had beveled edges (you can see this in the Amazon photo.) Not sure how well the pointed edge will hold up over time. Last, the notebook is now "Made in Mexico", and no longer by Dennison National Company of Holyoke MA.I highly recommend this notebook for those who document things a long time.

Computation Notebook, 4 X 4 Quad
I have been using these notebooks for year in my profession. The quad rule helps when making sketches and the column spacing is great for writing down project and meeting dates.

It Past the Test
When I first began my master's degree the first thing that I was told to get was a Laboratory Notebook. There were no specific guidelines for what it could be, so I set out to find what I felt was the best fit of all. Up until this point I had only used loose leaf binders and some normal $1 notebooks found in just about every convenient store, and for those of you who have worked in a lab you already know the nuisance both can be when you are trying to accurately record your work and results. I spent several days looking for just the right fit, and that was this notebook here.I compared it to a lot of other notebooks provided from various different sites, but all of them were either too small, did not have the right size lines (yes it is very important to have appropriately sized lines in your notebook) or they were just not sturdy enough to handle the wear and tear that I would inevitably put them through in my line of work. When I got my package in the mail I knew I had made the right choice just by feeling the weight and texture. This note book is good and sturdy, having held up to MULTIPLE spills in the lab and the pages themselves do not rip or tear as easily as many other notebooks I have seen or used. Probably my favorite thing of all, admittedly it is a very personal favorite, is that each and every page is numbered and there is a space for the title of your study, date and any other relevant information! I am not sure why that particular fact excited me so much but it definitely came in handy the more and more work I did during the span of my degree.Final grade? Its a perfect lab companion and will quickly become your best friend on the bench. Takes a beating and keeps on going, and looks very professional. When I need a new notebook Ill be back here ordering another one, that is for sure.

With this notebook comes great power
When I first started researching as an undergraduate, I would see all of these much more educated graduate students and professors with their own lab notebooks filled with all of their scientific mumbo jumbo. This specific kind of notebook to be exact. These things are the standard in most physics departments. Now that I am a graduate student myself, I was asked to get a lab notebook for my research. In my head, there was going to be some sort of ceremony where the all mighty lab notebook was gracefully handed to me. "With this notebook comes great power". Nope - I was told to hit up my school's bookstore. At that moment, I thought "Amazon must have these things cheaper". Of course, they did. I have since decorated mine, because I'm cool like that. The notebook is perfect for lab work, but honestly, it would make a good notebook just in general. Big pages that ink doesn't soak through is nice. It's graphed, which is cool and all. The binding is holding up thus far. There isn't much else to say about it. If you are getting it for a lab notebook, I suggest skipping the first couple of pages so that you can include a table of contents... future you will thank you for it when you're searching for some sample that was prepared 2 or 3 months before that.
