100% polystyrene foam beads :(
I wanted to love this laptop desk. It looks nice, and the elastic and pencil/phone holder is helpful so I don’t lose my things in the couch. Unfortunately, it reeks of chemicals. It took me a few days after Christmas (as we had several new items hanging around) to figure out where the awful smell was coming from and why I had a headache for a few days in a row. Then I actually looked at the consumer tag, which informs us that the filling is 100% polystyrene. So I was breathing in these toxic fumes for hours at a time while using the item. Great. For those who wonder why that’s a deal-breaker, polystyrene is a carcinogen. We have enough of those around us; is it too much to ask that my couch/bed be a haven from carcinogenic toxins?!?I’m hoping I can find a comparable item that meets my needs and isn’t filled with toxic material. If not, instead of returning it I will cut the fabric, dispose of the filling safely, cut a memory foam pillow that I don’t use to fit inside, and stitch the fabric back up.

Simple and comfortable home working product
Perfect size for laptop and iPad work area and easy to lift from room to room. Doesn’t take up too much space and appears well made. Was a good present for my daughter for her studies.

Present for grandchild- cheap looking and not as good as anticipated. Will be extra careful about buying online in future.

Great quality pet bed / lap desk
This review is actually written 17 months after I purchased it because I was curious about how well it would last. The good news? This thing is excellent quality. I bought it for my wife, who is an avid letter writer, and she uses it every single day. It has maintained its shape without any issues whatsoever. My kitten loves to sleep on it when my wife isn't using it (bonus two-for-one as a pet bed I guess haha) and it has even done duty as a defacto door stop. Nice quality.
