Deeeelicious! Excellent for Manhattans
I've been playing around with all manner of Manhattan concoctions. I fell in love with Luxardo cherries, and have used them exclusively for a while. And then I started noticing people talking about and really liking these Fabbri cherries. They aren't quite as dense as Luxardo, which is neither good nor bad. Just different.I do like the aroma and the taste of the syrup in these cherries better than that of Luxardo. I find that the Luxardo syrup is slightly medicine in flavor -- akin to Robitussin, oddly enough, but it seems this only happens when I use a metal spoon to remove the cherries from the jar. I was given the gift of a dark, wooden spoon with a hole in the middle of the "bowl" by the kind husband of one of the doctors my wife works for. And I've discovered that, using this spoon, there isn't the same medicine flavor from the Luxardo syrup. However, using the metal spoon in these Amarena Fabbri cherries doesn't have that effect. Interesting. These are also slightly smaller than Luxardos, and the container is smaller, and the price is smaller. So you'll have to do some math to figure out what the better bargain is. But we're not here for bargains, we're here for flavor. This is why we try out all of the gourmet cherries and compare them one to another.Either brand is fantastic for pretty much anything you'd like to apply cherries to. I like two of 'em in my Manhattans.

Fantastic!
These are superb! If you enjoy sour notes, you will like these more than Luxardo maraschino cherries which are very one-dimensional: just sugar. These amarena cherries have the acidity that adds a whole other flavor profile. I use them to make Old Fashioned drinks, but I have the urge to just eat them standalone. :) They'd make a great dessert or ice cream topping as well. Highly recommended!

Amerene in a small jar
Perhaps, I should have checked the size of the jar. I know the product, which usually comes in a larger jar. The cherries are delicious still.

Authentic and Delicious
I'm new to the trend back to the relaxing olden days of making a Manhattan after work. But it's a great cocktail and easy to make (and customize to your liking!) So when the bartender said, "oh, you can't have a Manhattan without an Amarena cherry and an orange twist," I immediately went to search for these. No, you can't get them in every grocery store. And this brand is classic. So, if I'm going to have an Amarena cherry, it's gonna be a Fabbri brand. Rich and delicious, not like the maraschino cherries you put on a sundae >:| The cherry makes the Manhattan elegant. And like the bartender said, "who doesn't like a cherry?" He reminded me almost no one drinks a martini without an olive, so there. Enjoy! You'll smile that your Manhattan just became something special.
