These work great for both extending out a hard to use/align VGA connector and also as a "plug saver" on equipment that gets frequent connect/disconnect use, like for example installed on an office projector it can "protect" against broken off connector pins or a loose fit from lots of use, when either of those things happen to the adapter swap it out for a new one! saving you from replacing the whole projector.{Solving a specific to my model of TV problem}I personally used one to correct a full HDTV that reported a low resolution (720p) to my PC by breaking off a specific pin (EDID) in the adapter plug so now my PC sees the TV as a generic monitor and has no problem outputting to the display at full HD 1080p resolution over VGA.This procuct is now my universal hardware solution for a embedded software problem.

In order to be a gender changer, both sides need to be either both males, or both females. These couplings are set up with male on one side and female on the other. They are worthless as a gender changer or coupler of any kind. As it is... they are the worlds shortest extension cable (about 1 inch). Someone wasn't thinking when they designed these, and I wasn't paying close enough attention when I ordered them.

Just like the other reviews say, I should have looked closer! This is not a gender changer, more like a gender duplicator, because you're going to end up with whatever you started with. It's not even a coupler, as some reviews seem to suggest. If you have a male connector and a female connector, just plug them into each other, this... thing...will not help in any way.

Should have read the other review, and looked closer at the pictures...This is not a gender changer. A coupler... sure but even though it says gender changer, it is not. Plugging a Male cable end into this will result in a Male cable end...
