Laser 6279 Deep Hub Nut Socket 1/2"D 36mm - Thin Walled

It fits, and does the job as it's supposed to.Not too expensive either.What's not to like..Good value for money from Laser tools.

Due to the 420Nm torque requirement for my van's hub nut I was concerned about the strength of a 'thin walled' socket. I did not notice any signs of strain on the socket during or after use so I would say it is definitely up to the job. I do wonder if it actually needed to be thin walled though as it looked like the socket would have fitted just fine even if they hadn't have reduced the wall thickness and I would have been happier knowing it was stronger as a result of not being quite so thin.Overall the socket is very good, needed to be deep and six point. Also, not sure if they make it in a 3/8" drive but glad it isa 1/2" drive so it's used with bigger stronger tools as it was necessary to extend the ratchet/breaker bar length in order to apply the necessary torque when removing and replacing nut without it being to strenuous.

Not sure if the hub nut was less than 36mm but the fit was not very good. The nut is only slim and the socket is an extended length. It did the job but was a bit worried it could strip the corners off the nut when undoing. The item is sold as a hub nut and on YouTube it was advised it was 36mm. But the fit felt more like the nut was 34 or 35mm but didn't have anything to compare it with but it did the job all the same.

Used to change a cv joint. No complaints.

As far as I know this is the only socket that's compatible with a 2013 fiat 500 axle nut as you need a thin wall socket. I bought from another brand but it was too thick so I couldn't actually get the axle nut off. Although this item is pricy, it's a must have if you're needing to remove or replace you fiat 500's axles.

Worked perfectly to remove the output flange nut on my 2004 e46 M3's Getrag 420g transmission. Needed to replace a leaky seal. This socket had just the right amount of clearance to fit into the flange, without sacrificing strength/durability. Ive found no other manufacturer that makes this in this socket size. With a typical axle nut socket of the same size, I'd have to shave it down to make proper clearance. Thank you for this savior of a socket! 🙌🙏👍
