Not all making tape is created equally. Yes it is expensive compared to the very cheap alternatives, but it's performance is different class.Just buy a roll, you won't regret it.

We got new composite decking laid, but the upright poles for the railings are wood. Therefore they had to be treated. I bought this to put around the base of poles to protect the decking area where they meet when I was painting them. There are also metal poles that run horizontally through the uprights and I masked the metal too. I used the tape to stick down paint mats and sheets of newspaper and was able to lift and relay these several times using the same pieces of tape.The tape was easy to apply and remove. I was able to leave it on overnight and while it was sunny to allow me to complete the job. I couldn't have done that with normal masking tape.I bought this and the bigger blue size and then bought more so that I will have some to use in future.The attached shows the style of decking, wooden uprights and metal poles that required to be masked.
