Decent for cost

It cuts a CLEAN cut, but NOT a straight cut. You may have to rasp or sand down if you want a perfectly flush cut, or do something I haven't figured out yet. The cuts tend to be longer on one end. To use, you PRY the things open, pulling them apart with both hands--no button as the directions say--then use a bit of pressure, but not too much. Each pressure squeeze locks them into the next notch. I have used them on up to 2.5inch pvc.

this tool is junk; I'm returning it in the morning

This was the most expensive PVC pipe cutter I considered; one of the reasons I bought it was the assumption on quality following price. Not so. The blade was loaded with burrs and would likely not have cut anything without being sharpened locally first. The metal on the tool was corroded, suggesting it was either used or had been in the wrong environment for storage for a long time. It also arrived in a non-branded plastic bag to hold the packaging together since it fell out of the original packaging while in the plastic bag. But worst of all is that it proved impossible to open the jaws once fully closed. I bought one earlier today at Home Depot for half the price and it works perfectly.

Cuts 2" Schedule 40 PVC surprisingly well!

I am using this tool for cutting a lot of 1.5" and 2" nominal diameter PVC pipe (both schedule 40 thickness) for a large bathroom remodel project. I am very pleased with the results achieved with this cutter! I am a long time (+50 years) tool user and this tool surprised me at how well it cut the pipe. Not to confuse quality of cuts with how difficult it is use, as it takes a lot of force and sometimes the pipe would compress and not allow the ratchet mechanism to advance. You have to use your foot to keep from hurting your hands if you are doing a lot of cuts. The mass of the cutter and the receiving curve is very good and will not break soon. This is a tool for mature operators, not for the light at heart. It will work great if you know how to handle it.PS - you will laugh at the bad translation of Chinese to English on the wrapper document (... not very shark)

Difficult to use

Cutters were very difficult to operate with one hand. On 2" pvc pipe the cutters didnt cut smooth, they smashed without cutting and shattered the pipe, to the point that it dinged the blade. Even on 1/2" pvc pipe cutters were a two hand all my grip, to get through. Not recommended. Glad I tried on scrap pipe before making a crucial cut.

Great idea, probably great sometimes, but not always

Not wonderful, not terrible. I needed these for cutting some 2” PVC Sch40 pipe. It worked great for older pipe I was cutting out, but to cut newer pieces to size it ultimately failed. I would get two clicks in on the ratchet mechanism and then the next click was just beyond the spring back elasticity of the new PVC, resulting in the cutter not reaching the third “click” and leaving me stuck with a slice in my pipe.

Sturdy looking tool

Since our Granddaughter and her Anatolian Sheppard Pyrenees came to live with us our back yard landscaping has had a bit of a excavation. Paislee like to dig and lay in the holes in the dirt. EWE! So she found our irrigation system and evidently has enjoyed a nip or two or a big tug of war with the PVC piping. So hubby is taking on the task of irrigation repair. Wish us luck! Thanks so much for supplying the wrench or thing-a-ma-jig. May your business prosper so novices like us can continue to repair our unwanted excavation projects by family members. 😮‍💨🙄🐶

Disappointing

This won't work on the regular plastic pipes you find under a kitchen or bathroom sink. It's only good for the thicker plastic pipes that most people don't use. I have a lot of plumbing to do and this isn't going to help me at all......going to revise my review and add a star. After playing with this thing while doing my plumbing I was able to get it to work. If you gently rock it back and forth on the softer pvc pipe to get the blade started, you can get it to cut the pipe which is a lot better than using a hack saw and a lot faster and cleaner. You just need a little patience and make sure it's good and sharp. I have to think, that even with the thicker pvc pipe, you need to do this, rock it back and forth to get the blade started cutting, otherwise you'll just crack the pipe.

Cheap & didnt last

I purchased these to cut plastic 2 inch gas pipe. I used it a bout a dozen cuts before the flimsy pin bent and now they will not open completely. They will probably be ok for thin pvc pipe
