It works!
Yea--it worked! I was worried I wouldn't be able to keep my bedroom set together---it's my grandmother's and is a beautiful maple bed, dresser, mirror, desk, and side table. I hated thinking that upgrading to a queen meant I'd have to split up the set. Then I found this product. It really does work.Observations:1. As other reviewers have noted, the packaging was a little sketchy (tears at one end, re-taping, and even old shipping labels) resulting in one bent hook. However, all the parts were there, and the bent hook was easily reshaped with a couple taps of a sledge hammer against an old paver.2. Install was really very simple, requiring just a little wiggling and fitting to get the hooks to engage in my old headboard/footboard. The cross-brace and side brackets are easy, too. Toughest thing was the c-clamp on the cross brace, but I think that was a spatial glitch of mine. Easy enough once I found a you-tube video after searching for c-clamp on the web.3. Mattress and box springs arrived today. No trouble fitting 60"x79". Side brackets keep box springs in snugly.4. The frame is actually steel and when it's all connected together is really very sturdy---much more so than the basic frames you see in stores with wheels.5. The dropped frame does help keep the height reasonable. That with a low profile box springs allowed almost all of my headboard/footboard to show.6. Only real design flaw is in the length. It's 82" long so with an 80" long mattress, you've got 2 spare inches plus whatever gap from frame to footboard. If your mattress is a little shorter, it's another inch or so. I'm leaving that gap at the foot so my pillows don't fall in the gap at the head. Having just made up the bed, though, it's not really that noticeable and my feet certainly won't hit the footboard now like they did on the double bed!Overall--excellent product for an unusual but not unheard of problem. Solves a very real problem for all of us wanting to hang onto sentimental, beautiful, older furniture.

Excellent Service
We are very pleased. We purchased two sets of these rails. They fit perfectly into our headboard/footboard. While not antique, our beds were somewhat high and the included support feet were too short. A brief conversation with Customer Service from the vender (not Amazon, more on that at the end), two pairs of longer supports were shipped the next day (Friday) and were received on Monday. I read the lower rated reviews and can only say a phone call or, in at least one case, common sense could have improved their experiences. Certainly, there can be issues with any manufactured product, but try a phone call or an email. Our rails were in new condition and packaged adequately, but anytime something long like this gets shipped, the potential for damage is there.About the direct call to the vender: My husband contacted the vender directly as that was the phone number on the paperwork. The first call was after business hours. He called again the next morning. I overheard his end of the conversation. He had to clarify that the order was through Amazon as they have those orders filed separately. I probably would have called Amazon. He said the woman was very helpful and pleasant and that new feet would be shipped the next day. Sure enough, they were!

Cheap, poorly manufactured, and their L-brackets broke
At the time i ordered this, I had to search far and wide for an "antique" hook-style bedframe, queen sized. It was delivered timely, but it appeared to be riveted upside down, and took a heck of a lot of work to install into my headboard and footboard. One little brace was provided, and the mattress rested on - I kid you not- four chintzy little L-brackets. Not totally convinced it was a good deal, but as we had guests coming over and needed the bed? It would work for us. Ok - first group of guests came over and it survived. Yay. A few months later - the bed having "not" been used to the pandemic (duh), I had to use said bed when hubby got the omicron and isolated in the master bedroom. I'm only 203 lbs/91kg and wouldn't you know- both little L-brackets literally bent and my box springs/mattress fell on the floor, leaving me laying diagonally. You gotta be kidding me! I went right back online and ordered one - yes, more money, but MUCH better built; much better quality - and put this one in the garbage. What a waste. Glideaway is made by some Americans, but DAMN - it's no wonder we buy from China- we can't even make a decent bedframe anymore. Wow. Glideaway- if you can't get your stuff together, you'll go out of business - deservedly so.

Not ideal, but should work well enough.
When the package arrived it was in horrible condition. Ever corner was broken open and the metal was sticking out. Nothing was secured or protected inside the box, so it all just rattled and slid around when moving the box. Incredibly poor packaging. Thank goodness that only one of the rail hooks was slightly bent, which we were able to straighten. It was easily installed onto the vintage wood head & footboards we purchased it for. The original rails were about 3 inches too short for the length of a queen bed. Even though the bed has the ability to be a full or queen, the queen slots are about 2 inches too wide for a queen bed. So too wide and too short. That's wh I thought the Glideway convertible might work, which it did. The bed is definitely not sturdy and still way too night once the box spring and mattress are put on, but since it's for the guest room I suppose it will work well enough. The length is about 3 inches too long once fully installed though. There is almost 3 inches extra at the head and foot of the bed. Hopefully the box spring won't slide either direction when in use. This is definitely not a bed frame for moving around on too much. I wouldn't purchase it again though.
