ok, but worst of the Lark jewelry books
I own this book, 500 Brooches, and 1000 Rings. This one is the worst of the 3, I think the other 2 are great. Overall these bracelets are just not that interesting, and there seem to be too many of them, by different artists, that are similar. One artist has 2 pieces in the book that are almost identical. I don't know what went wrong with this book. Was it the jurors? Is it that no one is making interesting bracelets? Is it that they didnt get many submissions? Its not all bad. Theres some good pieces. If you like the brooches and rings books, you should still get this book, just don't expect too much. Anyway, its pretty cheap on amazon.

eye candy for art lovers
a unique collection of bracelets...Not particularly geared toward metal artists, tho, which was what I was looking for. It does have lots of eye candy and would make a great coffee table book.

The content of this book is great.
The book was really good, but was in pretty bad shape when it arrived. The cover fell off and it was pretty banged up.

Shows the importance of having a curator who is "in touch"
I own 5 books in this series and they are inspiring. 500 Earrings was curated by Allen Revere. He obviously knows a thing ot two about jewelry making. This collection has little to inspire or even interest if you work in metals instead of coffee filters. I would like to return it as I doubt I'll look at it again. What a disappointment!

Inspirational but Bizarre
Many of the bracelets are purely conceptual and many look like they would be uncomfortable to wear, not to mention, too delicate to stand up to wear, however, I agree with Margarita about the book being a "spark for creativity" ... if you are an artistic type and not someone who is looking for something to copy. I found myself challenged, when I found a design I liked, to translate the idea into my chosen medium. As for the criticism about including several nearly identical entries from the same artists, for the most part, I don't agree. However it did seem like "cheating" on the part of the editors to scatter these multiple entries throughout the book rather than place them together. I like to see multiple interpretations of a theme, and don't necessarily think these multiple entries should have been eliminated but think they should have been grouped together for easier comparison. I also would have liked the book organized either alphabetically or by author. Still, even with these criticisms, I probably will buy this book.

Inspirational book
I bought this book as it had been recommended to me and I'm really pleased I did. It's full of inspiration and great ideas, although quite a few of the ideas are completely out there. I'm a silversmither and was looking for ideas to get away from more conventional designs and it definately delivers on that score. Each bracelet also has a little bit of information on how it was made which is really useful. It wasn't quite what I was expecting but has given me lots to think about and is a great book just to peruse. Well worth the buy.

500 Bracelets
I thought this book was how to make 500 bracelets so it wasn't what I thought. The pictures are beautiful but there are no instructions on how to make the bracelets.

this review would have saved me postage!
I'm reviewing this because if I'd seen what I'm about to write I would have been saved postage and dissapointment.I loved 1000 rings. I also really like the two new additions, 500 earrings and 500 necklaces - I think they were beautiful and reviewed them. So when I ordered this I was expecting something similar to 1000 rings. I was dissapointed because although this book is the same style coffee table type gallery book the items picked to fill it did not really match the same standards as the others (I haven't seen 500 brooches, so omit this one). There are, of course, some good works in it and some are incredibly well designed and made - but as a book of inspiration it just didn't rise to the same standards. I returned it. This was the one I was really looking forward to perusing as bracelets are something that interest me most, but it did not contain enough for me to want to keep it. Some may like this but I did not. It wasn't as good as the others.

Not what I expected
This book might be excellent for those interested in high fashion or art jewellery. However I was looking more for real life designs. In this book 90% bracelets are absolutely unwearable in a daily life (unless your daily life is being a model on a catwalk) because they are just too massive, would tear your clothes or people would think you dug it out somewhere in a bin. (yes, I am not a big fan of most of contemporary art)I must say that some designs to me personally were hideous. There were few which inspired me but most of them just made me raise my eyebrows. It would help if Amazon added more pages to the product/book insight. I probably wouldn't have bought this book had I seen more examples of what is inside.
