Poor latches
I bought this to re-work my sound equipment into something a bit more portable. I was attracted by the price of the unit, but you do get what you pay for. It is lightweight and the wheels make it easy to move. However,... I am REALLY disappointed with the latches on the covers. They have failed to secure the covers on multiple occasions, requiring me to stop and reattach the covers before continuing moving the equipment. I think it could be solved by changing the location of the catches on the main body to be a bit further away from the edge leading to a tighter fit. I might try to correct the error myself. I got a 4U case where I store other equipment and the stacking feature is nice. It is an OK unit, but if you've got a few more bucks to spend, opt for something that is of better quality.

deep, wheeled case
I have a few different cases from multicomp (2U, 4U and now this 7U). On all of them, the rails are well aligned and well-threaded. I have not had a single issue mounting gear into these. On that, each of these come with a pack of mounting bolts so you don't need to buy more. The weight limit on the 7U is posted as 100# and I definitely wouldn't approach that. These are thin plastic and when they are loaded heavy, you can feel the plastic bend a little under the weight. The 7U does stack with other multicomp cases where the bottoms and tops fit together so they don't slide around. They actually stick together well on stage or in-studio.This headline says 17" depth, but it's really 16-1/2" with the covers removed. For what I have racked , it didn't matter, but it might to you. Because of the recessed handle in the 7U model, it is taller than just 7U worth of stuff: the recessed handle represents around 1U of space on the bottom that is blocked off with a removable panel. Could you remove that panel and install a 1U bit of gear? Probably, if that gear is less than 5-1/2" deep (like an equalizer maybe?). The recessed handle travels in a dedicated sleeve, but it is only connected to the case where the handle comes out and at the very bottom of that sleeve. I suggest you consider the weight when you think about how the handle attaches. The unit has a pair of wheels (not 4) so when you extend the handle and roll it around, the bottom of the rack is pointing at your feet, one of the sides is suspended above the ground, all balancing on those 2 wheels. The covers are about 2-3/4" deep and attach with 4 latches per cover, 2 on each side. There is a rubber gasket between the covers and the main rack which will prevent dust (and probably smoke, IDK about water) from getting past the covers into the main rack and your equipment. The latches are small, and there was a comment about them coming undone during transport. I haven't had that experience with these cases, but I do check before moving. I do like the fact that the latch mechanism is on the cover, not the body, though. As a result, when it is set up, covers off, the latches are not hanging out there ready to catch clothing or cables. In the end, this is a plastic or ABS case with no padding or anything like that. This will protect your gear from something like a hammer or a stage light getting dropped on it, but I would not put super valuable stuff in it and then have uninvested or unaware persons handling it.
