This shadowbox is made to either stand on a flat surface or be hung on a wall. It is deep enough to hold small objects and big enough to hold many of them! If you stand it up, it will tilt back a little bit because the door is larger than the box, but that works well. There are metal pieces on the back to use when you hang it. So far, I have made two projects using these boxes and I intend to make many more with time. Ideally, I'd love to give one to each person I love, but that probably won't happen. It's a great buy for the money! In case anyone is wondering what the stockings are filled with...they each are filled with "coal" (actually obsidian stones), with one rhinestone and two candy canes in each. Let's face it, each of us is a combination of naughty and nice, when you get right down to it.

I bought these to display my child’s letterman items(numbers, chevrons, letters) since we didn’t get a jacket to put them on. These are very high quality nicely built shadow boxes. I’m extremely happy with this purchase!

I bought these to display my Minnie ears from Disney. They fit inside pretty perfectly, so in that regard it was what I wanted. I love the magnet front so I can just open it and pull out whatever pair I’m going to wear. But while hanging these up, I used a laser level and a screw guide that was created from the back of one of these to set how far apart the screws needed to be. I checked and rechecked my screws and placement and they were all perfectly level. But when I put these on the screws. Every single one is off level by the same amount meaning either the boxes are shaped crooked or the hooks on the back are attached crooked. At least they are the same amount of crooked so you can’t tell just with the eye that they are but it was very frustrating trying to hang them up. They are also made of pressboard with basically a sticker covering it, and it’s already starting to peel. I intended to keep buying these as my collection grows and I’ll probably have to since I’ve already spent a bunch on these, but I would love for them not to be crooked. If you just hang one or are not lining them up they would be fine.

The look and feel of the shadow box is very nice and is worthy of gifting. The workmanship is also good, however, the glass is really very reflective, even in low-light settings, which I found very distracting.My other complaint is regarding the size description. The title describes it as an "8.5x11 Shadow Box Frame", but this sizing is incorrect. The interior measurement is 8x10, which is what the Amazon selection button says. I did not notice this discrepancy and went by the title description. (The exterior dimensions are also not 8.5x11.) Unfortunately, I really wanted the larger size, but had to make due with the smaller box due to the timing of when I needed the box for a gift. I didn't measure the interior depth, but it looked to be 2 inches, as reported.
