Connects easily to our vintage Sony digital HandyCam.
This video capture device is a big win: connects easily to our ancient camcorder and Win11 laptop (I used the Yellow and Red cables instead of the S-Video connector), and we are using it to digitize all those 8MM tape cassettes floating around the house. We used the video capture software we already have (VLC Media Player -- it's a little glitchy running under Win11, but it's fine for what we're doing). When we're done, we'll use video editing software to clip out the best parts of 35 years of footage (including, of course, all the actual foot-age). Yippee!

Works under Linux
I have purchased a RCA version - so, purely analog input. This product is based on EasierCAP:$ lsusbBus 001 Device 011: ID 534d:0021 MacroSilicon MS210x Video Grabber [EasierCAP]It is detected and works under Linux Ubuntu as a Plug&Play device. I used it with OBS Studio. While the image sharpness maybe could have been better, I can not compare it with any other product.Unfortunately, vendors hide the hardware information, so it is rather hard to predict if a particular device may or may not work under Linux - so this is the purpose of this review.

Decent digitizer for my old video tapes
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Good value for the money. I couldn’t get it to work with my MacBook Air, but it works fine with my older Vaio laptop using Windows 10.

Works great!
I tried several others before this brand and this works great! I was going to purchase the other brand “e” but it was double the price and you didn’t have the option to choose your software choice to convert. Plus I was also able to adjust the settings 720/1080 vs other brand which didn’t allow that. The directions are step by step and walks you through connection. However, the one downside is if you run into trouble/issues you’re on your own. I had an issue with sound and echoing which was initially terrible but I figured out how to fix that (after several long aggravating hours) again because no troubleshooting guide/help/manual. With the sound finally fixed I’m now able to record my hi8 tapes using obs with the help of YouTube tutorials and now I’m on my 8th tape transfer to digital already. Great product, comes with everything you need to connect and it works! You are getting a great device for a much better price and more options what’s not to like? Glad I gave this a try.

Helped me digitize our home video collection
Was able to use this to digitize our old 8mm camcorder videos and get them added to the cloud! The capture tool was plug-and-play and the instruction manual was simple to follow with multiple software options. I went with OBS.

get what you pay for
item did not auto upload software as explained in instructions. there is an option and links provided to download the software manually, but why. i dont have the patients anymorr to figure out manufacturers problems. going to go to a more expensive, but affordable item.
