Mine did better than most - lasted 3 years. But then I turned it on one day and smelled burning plastic. No matter what level I set it on, the heat level remained the same and MUCH too hot - even when I turned it off!! I had to unplug it to get it to cool off. Then it died.....probably just as well as it had become a fire hazard.

Bought this for my wife, we had it for less than a month and the control unit shorted out while she was using it. According to her, it smelled like it was burning and stopped working so she unplugged it for about an hour and tried it again and it wouldn't turn back on. We have returned this one and will be purchasing a heating pad from a more reputable brand. I give it 2 stars because while it was working, it worked great, good heat output, even at a low setting. Unfortunately it's very low quality. Thank goodness for free returns.

Has a lot of restrictions--can't lean back against it, not recommended by diabetics, don't leave it plugged in, etc., etc., etc. Don't use it as often as hoped. Had wanted to use on couch while watching TV to sooth neck and back muscles and keep me warmer on chilly nights.

Great idea but the neck portion is very soft and does not at and up so it doesn't serve it's purpose well. I also wish the heat was more intense. Even of the highest setting, it does not get warm enough to really effect the tissue. More relaxing than beneficial for muscles.

Purchased this heating pad in November. It has not started to smell like burning plastic when I use it so I have stopped using it and bought a replacement else where.

This is a good alternative to a traditional heating pad which can slip around and not cover the neck. The patient is much more likely to use it since it rests on the back of a chair or couch, always ready. Good range of heat settings. Did not care for the cover but since it does not affect operation, just a minor point.

I bought this to replace an old sunbeam neck heating pad. My thinking was larger size = better. But larger actually = more diffuse heat. The shoulder and neck portions of this don't even seem to get warm--which defeats the whole purpose for me. The mid back is the only portion that heats up and even at the highest level is merely warm. Can I return this without the original packaging? Because I want to.

I ordered three one turned out to be defective for which I was credited for. Not as much heat around the neck as I would like.
