Pumpkin Masters America's Favorite Pumpkin Carving Kit (Pack of 2)

Bought this pack after positive review in NY Magazine's Strategist column. I was hoping for sturdier-than-usual knives, that would still be safe for children.Well -- they are safe for children. But these tools were among most flimsy.Totally disappointing. These are junk-level tools; vastly overpriced. Buy the cheapest available instead -- these are truly equal to the worst available.

My major complaint with pumpkin carving kits is that they always feel cheap and flimsy and something ultimately breaks way before you'd expect or want it to. So far, this kit survived its first carving session and made 4 jack-o-lanterns. I wouldn't call them professional quality, but they're a step above the kits I've used in the past, especially the "ergonomic" saw. I've also always considered the scoop to be useless and broke every one I've had, but this one held up as well. I would suggest using a real, metal kitchen spoon to actually get the guts out of the pumpkin, then using this one to shave down the inside of the pumpkin to make the carving area thinner.If I had to have a complaint, it's that at least half of the patterns are kind of strange choices and nothing I'd want to display on my front step or put the effort into carving. Killer garden gnome, pirate kitty, the word "creepy"? I don't know, I did like a few of them, at least. Their suggested method of wetting the paper and then putting plastic wrap over it before carving also actually worked very well for me, despite my skepticism. Much better than the poking method, for sure. I'd say give it a shot if you're in the market for an all-in-one carving kit!

I purchased these for our office team members to use for a pumpkin carving contest and they worked great. Everyone commented that the although the tools didn't look like they could withstand the carving process of the large pumpkins, they worked perfectly. The scooper was the biggest hit and scooped everything out easily.

Tools are very cheap. What they have photoshopped out of the photo is that it has a suggested retail price of $3.87. There are better products for $4.99 at my local grocery chain store.

small knives bent easily. Walmart had this for sale for a dollar cheaper. Scooper works well though!!

Worked for the most part but very poor quality. Broke two of the saws by the end of the carving.

Decent set, not the best. Other sets have a better scooper.
