Excellent book

An excellent treatise on studying a openings repertoire with e4. Great quality work and very thorough. You will have plenty of material to analyze for years and get good at playing e4!

This book is formatted for someone who is already familiar with the main lines. The writing is also very illogical, the Author takes you via the rarer lines first before going into common replies by black. Enjoy a scavenger hunt through the pages if you are trying to build a repertoire based on common responses. Many parts of the book state that white is better without any explanation.

Incredibly thorough, a reference book as well as repertoire book (as all the books in this series it is structured as repertoire book with common themes and ideas), working through the entire book will take several months. Aimed towards 2000+ players.

All of the GM Rep. books are amazing. This one is no exception. Having reference books like this at hand while studying is priceless...

I am a FIDE Master and the more I use this book the more impressed I am with it. I have already used two of the recommendations in competition and I am very pleased. This book gets so much study time I took it out and had it spiral bound!!Upon further study I found some problems with the calculations in this book. For instance, in chapter 9 Negi claims an advantage for white by ignoring Black's best move in crucial spots. Page 146 13...f6Page 147 after 15.Ne2 is just equalPage 151 he considers both 14...g6 and h6 but not f6! Both stockfish and Houdini rate 0.00On the whole white gets nothing with these recommendations against 7...a6Changing to four stars

Ce pavé traite surtout de la "Française et de la Caro-Kann", Et comme il s'agit de la série "Grandmaster Repertoire", c'est très clair pour la forme et très dense pour le contenu ! Même si vous n'êtes pas un champion pour l'anglais, ce livre est assez facilement compréhensible !....Je recommande !

comprehensive opening systems for French and Caro. Negi chooses initiative over material most of the time and the result is an active and challenging repertoire within critical mainlines. I approve of his choice of 8.Bd3 against the Winawer Poisoned Pawn, a line I've often struggled against.

Variantes principales sur les défenses Française et Caro-Kahn, sans fioritures et sans coup miraculeux. C'est le volume 1, les volumes 2,3 et 4 sont consacrés à la Sicilienne. Un régal même s'il faut digérer!
