Q: Is this the tape for 8mm video camcorder cassettes?

This tape is specifically for open reel 1/4 inch audio tape. 8mm would equal .39 inches. So, I'd look for an alternative.

Q: Can this be used to repair a broken VHS tape?

You will need the 1/2" version of this tape. Do a search on Amazon for B00NPKY0D0 The model number is AC1S89B2C. The tape you show here is for 1/4" media. Thanks!

Q: I presume this will work fine for audio cassette tapes which of course are 1/8"?

This tape is designed for 1/4" wide recording tape. Audio cassettes are actually .150" wide and TME has a splicing tape on Amazon just for the purpose. Search for AC0S95B1 under category "All". This is brand new manufacture, made in August 2020. You *can* use 1/2" and 1/4" tape but it gets a bit difficult because the cassette recording tape itself is so thin and small, and trimming the sides could be maddening.
