This is the Kohler replacement you've been waiting for.
Bought this 9 months ago and am finally replacing the batteries on a very often used toilet. This device is much better built and more reliable than the Kohler version. I bought the Kohler toilet many years ago and every year I would have to fight with them after their device went bad. They sent me a new version each time promising that this fixed the problem. The 5th model they sent me was the best but alas it stopped working as well. About ready to go but a new toilet and bought this as a last hope. was impressed by the build quality and how the batteries were separate and sealed unlike Kohler. Very well thought out and works great - no ghost flushes in the middle of the night. Kohler - buy this company! Quit screwing up your reputation! There - I feel better :)

Reliable, efficient, they do the job that Kohler's cheap hardware should have done.
Update: January 2025I rarely review products, and almost never return to update the reviews. This product is worth an update. In case you're stuck with the never-did-work Kohler touch flush toilets, this thing will fix your problems. I have two of these Kohler toilets. One worked pretty well, burning through batteries ever 3 to 4 months. The other went south pretty early, requiring four new AA batteries EVERY WEEK to 10 days. The "working" toilet start failing, which is when I decided to take the leap of faith (based in variable reviews), and buy these replacements. After six months, they work well. There is an optional sensitivity adjustment, which consists of two screws embedded into the circuit board, which are quite difficult to access and turn with a Phillips screwdriver. To flush one of two units , one almost had to put his hand right over the unit, a half inch above. The other worked better. I adjusted both, made them too sensitive, and now they flush as soon as you're in front of it, when you sit on the seat, when you scratch your nose, i.e. you get the picture. No big deal. I decided to wait until the batteries died, and then fix then both. Well, there's a problem with that plan. It's been seven months, and the batteries are still going strong. Because of my errant settings, these things probably flush 3x more than necessary. And yet, the batteries show no sign of failing yet. THAT'S AN OUTSTANDING IMPROVEMENT over Kohler's sh**t.I'm not sure how reliable these units will be over the long haul (per other reviews), but right now, they just work, they work well, and they work efficiently enough that the batteries seem to last forever.Increased review to 5 stars.Original Review (7/24):Bought this over a year ago, but didn't get it installed until early this year. Thus far, operates great. It's overly sensitive, i.e. it flushes when you sit down, when anything is within 2 feet over the top of the tank, but that can (should) be adjusted, I just haven't gotten around to trying. My concern: MOST of the recent reviews are highly NEGATIVE, and all cite the same thing, i.e. a non-responsive vendor. Well, I have a second Kohler touchless toilet, with their defective OEM crap auto flushers, which quit after 6 years (the other one lasted 6 months). There aren't many retrofit solutions out there (I think most Kohler owners are just dumping the toilet, and never buying Kohler again), so we'll give this a second try.I guarantee that I'll be updating this review every 3 to 6 months, to see how long this lasts. If this vendor/product deserve it, I'll write about it and update the rating to match.

Need screwdriver for battery compartment, and jeweler's screwdriver to adjust sensitivity
1) You need a small Phillips-head screwdriver to open the battery compartment.2) You need a tiny jeweler's screwdriver to adjust the sensitivity. One reason I say "need" is that the factory setting was insanely oversensitive. We needed to adjust ours and I think you will too, so have the screwdriver ready before you start installation. It's a "trimpot" on the circuit board; an eyeglass screwdriver, or, with care, the point of a penknife would work. The instruction boolket is clear but don't mention that the setting is factory-sealed. It's covered with a waxy material, but it is easy to scrape off. The control is clearly labeled on the circuit board itself, with arrows showing increase/decrease directions.3) The Techo is a different design, but has such a similar "style" that I have to wonder if they were OEM-ing the Kohler device all along. As a "replacement for the Kohler original" it seems fine and I know of no reason to suspect the Techo is any better or worse than the Kohler original. The home we bought had a toilet with the Kohler "touchless" mechanism installed. It quit working (just dropped dead, fresh batteries did nothing) and that's the last straw. There's a new toilet in our future. We bought the Techo as a stopgap so we can replace the toilet in good time on our own schedule. Since we hated the Kohler we hate the Techo, too--the whole thing seems silly--but it seems like an honest replacement.4) Since Kohler's website offers a Kohler-branded replacment for $300 for a replacement, I guess I have to call this good value for the money.5) Unlike the Kohler original, this one doesn't beep when you activate it.6) As a replacement for the original, it was fine, mounting in the same place. I was able to just put the Techo in and clip the existing chain onto the wheel. I didn't install the new chain and I didn't make adjustments to the old chain. The operating wheel is slightly larger so it drops the chain lower and pulls it higher, but it has been working fine without any tinkering or adjusting.7) As you can see, the battery compartment is outside the main mechanism. The trickiest part was plugging in the cable--because the rubber housing had turned oval in a weird way and I couldn't figure out how to mate plug and socket until my wife had the courage to use a bit more force than I had done. The housing is stretchy and obviously designed to make a water-resistant seal over the connection.8) The "troubleshooting" section mentions the possibility that the wall clearance is too tight for the bracket, which may need to be bent. Yes, it was too tight and we did to bend it--not very easy to do.9) Replacing batteries is going to be a nuisance. The case is sealed with a Phillips-head screw, and has a rubber seal between lid and main compartment and a tiny (and easily lost) rubber washer under the screw. I plan to keep a Phillips screwdriver, a jeweler's screwdriver, and four AA batteries in the bathroom.10) The unit comes with four AA batteries. They are oddly unmarked. I think they are just ordinary alkaline batteries. They are not rechargeable. The instruction say "do not use lithium-ion batteries" out of fear of a lithium fire if the lithium gets wet, which is a shame since this would otherwise be a good place to use long-life disposable lithium batteries.

Great Replacement for the Touchless flush toilet
I bought a kohler touchless toilet. I have had to replace the mechanism countless times. Kohler sent me the replacements till they stopped making them. This is amazing, it works better than the original kohler mechanism. It’s well worth it. Installation was very quick and simple. Buy it
