CogAT Level 8 (Grade 2) Guide: Book A Paperback – August 5, 2015

This is by far the best Cogat practice book I found. It offers a structure and questions that are the right level of difficulty and format as the real Cogat test. Additionally, the practice exercises and test tips for each section are well organized and help make nervous test taker feel reduce some of their anxiety. Those practice drills and the very complete answers are what really help set the book apart from others. It not one shows the right answer, but explains why the other answers are incorrect. This is a great aid for parents when the right answer may be obvious to us, so it makes it difficult to explain to a child why a different answer was the better choice.I'd buy this book again and have recommended it to several friends. I only wish they made it for additional grades.

This is one of the better tests preparation books we've used. It has much better graphics than some of the other books. We are using it as an extra challenge for our rising first grader who loves patterns and puzzles. Many of the questions are more challenging than other grade 2 books we've used which is a bonus for test preparation and skill development.I'm giving it only four stars because the book is bound backwards which I didn't realize until after the 30 return period was over (we were still working through other books). It's a bit annoying, but we're still using it. I'll still purchase the second volume and just check it as soon as we receive it.

THE BEST.....HANDS DOWN!!!I have evaluated and used several CogAT books to help prepare my students for the test, and without any hesitation, I can say that this book is the best. I have been so thirsty to find the perfect book for both the teachers/parents and the students/children, but now I am so excited! I finally found it! It surely fulfills what other CogAT books are lacking: study guide with DRILLS for each sub test and THOROUGH answer explanations. When the drills seem especially helpful to prepare the students to understand the concepts tested, I think the answer explanations will prove to be invaluable. As I am so ecstatic to use this book for my students, I will write another or more review(s) as I see the progress.Again, the best CogAT book on the market!!!

Then, your child will most likely be playing catch up once in the program.Don't do it! Please don't put your child/children through this gift testing hoop.I think it's natural most parents think their kids are smart and well capable of learning above and beyond their age. But, what's more important and you'll never get it back is their youth and the fun they can enjoy only at a young age. What is the benefit of gift programs compared to standard learning? Nothing! Just accelerated learning. They will learn the multiplication table and division eventually. Why not just let them have fun now?

I bought this based on a bunch of good reviews here. Totally disappointed with the kind of weird questions in this book. Eg: cherry : tomato is apparently analogous to cucumber : banana and one has to guess it is banana ( not a multiple choice). Then another crazy one. Pocket : jacket ::: hole : _____ ? What could it be? Apparently ground. Go figure. I am all for upping it a notch.. as long as you don't turn logic over its head.

Great practice tests with throughout answer explanations. I have been browsing many COGAT books but I really like this book and SO happy the Author is going to release Level 9 guide as well! Must buy! You won't be disappointed!

We are halfway done in just few days and my daughter still loves this book!

This book is useful, but some questions are not quite clear and logically they can have more than one answer rather one.I am a PhD in engineering.
