Alm mCAMLITE Starter Kit for iPhone 6 Plus

Well this is certainly well made. The heft is just right. The ability to option out the rig is as good or better than any dslr. The optics appear to be top of the line for their price range, though my plan us to use the en cinema dslr lens adapter. Okay so at this price how can anything of this quality possibly earn less than stars?Because this high end rig that easily is the envy of all grokking greek geek photo freaks is fitted for a pedestrian iPhone 6s. Not the King of phones, the majestic 6s Plus. Understand this accessory is a five star product, but the Amazon listing is woefully inaccurate. I read the reviews on this product and they induced me to buy. I should have read the reviews on this page. And back it goes. I do not want my money back, I want the correct product.Therefore, it is my judgment that mercy is to be shown and five stars awarded on probationary status to see how this is resolved.

I was not impressed with this item. I ordered it for my iPhone 6 plus but I was sent one for an iPhone 6. My wife has an iPhone 6, so I decided to use it on her phone to try it out. The device was extremely bulky and heavy. I understand the need for some weight but I personally found it to be gratuitous.The thing that I realized after getting poor quality shots was that this kit was not going to magically change my iPhone camera into something that it wasn't. I had a lot of problems with a lot of image noise due to the unchangeable ISO settings on the iPhone. My advice would be to use your phone as a phone and your camera as a camera. Don't compromise on this unit. Use the money on a DSLR or something of that sorts.

The Starter kit by ALM came with everything in the box except the 180 degree external microphone. I'm able to take excellent pictures however when trying to record audio it is too far away and I the phone won't pic up certain conversations when there is no external microphone so I'm thinking about returning the purchase.The aluminum frame is solidly constructed and seems like it will hold up to being used quite a lot. I think the silicone case might wear after time but I hope that is easily replaced/fixed.The lenses that it comes with both are very nice. The macro lens takes superb closeup shots!

I have iPhone 6 Plus. First one came quickly. But was for iPhone 6. (no microphone to be seen btw...). Returned easily w/ Prime.. (thank you Amazon!)Got a replacement... for an iPhone 6.. NOT 6 Plus.. also no mic. FAIL.Dear ALM & Bopo... iphone 6 and 6 Plus are two different sizes. FYI.See photo... my 6 Plus is in the middle of the metal case and the silicone bumper that comes with it.

I bought the kit from another vendor and had the problem of an extremely tight fit. Contacted mfg and vendor, got no response. So I tried a home fix, I put the silicone case on the phone for stability then lightly took material from the sides with a small file. I’d make five strokes then checked for fit. Now it’s easy to assemble but I still need a butter knife to remove. I’m guessing they have poor tolerance control with the silicon. Overall, I like the kit for pushing what can be done with the iPhone. It is awkward to use, sometimes I’ll use a compact or video camera instead. I do use it for multi camera set up for live music videos, on tripod with set lens. I did get some clip on holders @ 37mm for more options. My kit came with wide and 2x. I like the 2x for portraits. People seem to have most fun with the macro

This thing is awesome! It will use any 37mm threaded lens. The wide angle lens will take any 49mm threaded filter. And the 2x (separate purchase) will take filters with a 42mm thread. (I just bought a 42 to 49mm and a 37 - 49mm adapter rings and used the 49mm filters I had laying around.) Macro lens is backward threaded so it screws into the wide angle. But I'm not sure you'd want a filter over a macro shot anyway. If in a pinch 37mm filter kits are cheap.The mic sucks. If I want to record good sound I suggest a dedicated mic for that like the rode dlsr mic which works really well with the alm. Just attach it to the cold shoe and plug it in. But I didn't buy to alm for the mic that comes with it...
