This looks the part and is very sturdy and the price was reasonable.However, the holes through which you put the screws to attach it to the door weren't there! There was no leaflet or instructions with the item so we assumed that maybe you had to take off the back plate to position the front part to face holes in the back plate - but that wasn't the case, or at least there didn't seem any easy way of separating the two. We are proficient DIYers so we weren't doing anything obvious wrong. In the end, we had to drill holes where they should have been using a powerful metal drill bitAdvice - if you buy one of these, check straight away that the holes are there! We didn't and by the time we realised it was too late as we had to do the job that day

These handles are a quality product, they're sturdy, very tactile and very light to operate thanks to the door latch mechanism.You need to be able to drill a 54mm hole right through your door to install the handles and create space for the spring mechanisms. This may cause a bit of a problem for some with basic DIY skills if you're trying to retro-fit these in place of existing door locks as its a bit tricky to work out how to do that when there's already a hole in the door and no place for a pilot drill other than in thin air! I managed to combine two different hole boring kits together to create a 22mm guide for the 54mm bit, a bit make-shift but worked a treat.The addition of a dust box for the door frame makes everything look so neat as there's no more seeing the remains of the drill marks from the original installation through the latch plate, so simple but just another reason why these handles are just so good.I installed nine pairs over a weekend and very pleased with the result.

I bought three sets and it was clear that I was sent other customers' rejections when I opened the sellotaped boxes. The instruction leaflet wasn't very clear and the template provided was blank. After reading the instructions several times, I was none the wiser, so I persevered by drilling and cutting the holes in the door following my own measurements. It took me a couple of hours to fit one set and whilst it looked very nice on the door, the latch mechanism was a bit stiff when turning the door knobs. It's not a perfect installation but the knobs are better than my previous ones.

Having the standard handles alongside the lockable alternative is great because different rooms can have the same look but different functionality. Of course the two handle types are not exactly the same because they do different things. But they are close enough that they look consistent when mixed in the same hall.

First handle fitted no problem, although it’s a little fiddly to get the screws in at that angle. Second handle the holes did not line up as as someone else has mentioned no way of separating the front from the backplate. Unfortunately didn’t fit for a while after bought so only just realised. After much faffing trying to move the plate my partner has reverted to drilling new holes.

These are as described but didn't fit onto existing cut out which was smaller. Worth checking all dimensions before buying as I had to involve a joiner to fit. These would have been perfect if fitting to new doors .

Well made items, but you would think that the handles would be able to detach from the base plates for fixing. Also, the screws are of pretty poor quality, which I replaced.

First set had to be returned due to a broken spring. Second set have to be fitted loosely on the door, if tighten to tightly they stop working.. They look good and stop the dogs pushing their way into the kids room, don't know if they will last.
