Froggy Plays Soccer

Bought this book in an attempt to engage a more reserved student who loves soccer. I have never seen him so interesting in our read aloud before!

Ok, so I got this book for my son who was about to start soccer. He was only 3 and 1/2 at the time and I wanted something to kind of teach him the rules of the game. This book does have all that in there. It teaches don't touch the ball with your hands. It also tries hard at teaching to pay attention because froggy is not paying attention and gets hit on head by the ball. But the problem is that it shows froggy doing cartwheels in the field, picking daisies, and picking his nose. So when we took my son to his first soccer practice he was out on the field trying to do cartwheels, saying "I'm picking daisies" (which were actually dandelions), and saying "I'm picking my nose" as he pinched the tip of his nose. Thank goodness he wasn't actually digging for gold. So while I thought this book would help my son understand what soccer is, he picked up a whole different message from it. That is why I think authors need to be so careful of what kind of behavior they show in a book because kids will imitate the good and the bad. So while this might be ok for an older child, I would stay away from it if you have a child under 4.

Honestly this is a classic book. I received it as a gift when I was a kid and am now buying copies for baby showers.

My 5 years old son started playing soccer this year. I was intended to buy a soccer book, that is fun and educational. But this book disappointed me. It’s kinda dry and boring. My son is not very interested in it.

Checked this book out at our library. 3 year old grandson had just been signed up for soccer. He loves this book so much, we had to order one for him to keep. It is he cutest thing and he repeats the slogan in it on cue now.

I love the Froggy books

The Froggy book series can be used to teach a variety of language concepts (spatial concepts, reasoning, responding to -wh questions, labeling and identifying parts of the body, using pronouns, etc,). The visuals are also clear and great. I recently use this Froggy book around the period of time when the Word Cup was going on. It helped many of my student understand the concept of the game and make it more concrete. I also like Froggy Gets Dressed, Froggy's Sleepover, etc..

Wenn das Kind anfängt englisch zu lernen, ist das Buch super. Das können die Kinder alleine lesen und verstehen.

Ich erziehe meine Kinder zweisprachig (deutsch/englisch). Meine Kinder (3 und 5) lieben die Froggy Bücher und verstehen sie auch recht gut, teilweise können sie die Passagen sogar auswendig. Die Bücher eignen sich perfekt als Gute-Nacht-Geschichten, da man sie in ca 3-5 min gelesen hat. Schön illustriert - Kinder lieben Bücher mit vielen Bildern!

Wir kaufen gerne diese Bücher, da sie lustig sind und der Kleine gerne damit lernt. Wir empfehlen es gerne weiter.

Wunderschoene Illustrationen und kindgerechte kurze Geschichten... perfekt fuer die Gutenachtgeschichte! Unser Sohn liebt diese Serie und sammelt inzwischen alle Froggybuecher!
