Used this to mark some lines in a canoe stem to make sure it was uniform. Well worth the cheap investment. I would not attempt to do that without this tool ever again.

This is a nice, heavy gauge. It works great once it is set, but it takes a lot of fidgeting to get there. The slider with the second pin doesn't have its own screw lock and the hole on the block is a bit oversized (making it not square to the work) so you essentially have to adjust three things at once to get it set. I also had to fine tune the two points to be the same length.Aside from these things, it's a beautiful tool and does its job well. I would buy another one if I needed it.

I ordered this tool along with another marking gauge. This one also looks like it will fit into my tools I can't live without list. The fit and finish is flawless! Setting the pins is effortless and the lock in place when the guide is locked down. I ordered one from Woodcraft but it wasn't made well at all plus I can't get woodcraft to provide a refund from the seller. Last this i will order from Woodcraft.

Required significant tweaking to give acceptable results. Had to shim the beam to be perpendicular to the fence. The sliding pin and the fence are held in place by the same set screw, which due to sloppy fit creates difficulty in setting both simultaneously. With a little more attention to detail during manufacturing this could have been a good tool.

It was my first time using a Mortise Gauge. This Gauge looked good and is easy to adjust and very intuitive. It’s simple to set each pin to the desired width and marked the required section. I found it to be a good buy and a great conversation piece for the curious onlookers in your garage.

Works just like it is supposed to , seems well made and no problems so far used for over a couple months now .pins should last a good long time I use it mainly in popular and pine .

It's either poorly made or the quality control is horrible. The 2 pins for marking mortises are flat, not sharp and they aren't the same size. The stationary mortise pin is loose and the Philips grooves in the screw holding the brass bar it is attached to are stripped out and can't be adjusted. The brass bars are too small for the grooves they "fit" in and have over a 32nd of play. The gauge would work fine for the regular marking gauge part and the whole thing has a good weight to it but everything about the mortise gauge is wack. I am returning mine.

Solid and fairly sturdy, however when using the single marking gauge side, it cannot be set below ~1/4” because the mortise gauges on the other side get in the way. Upon dragging the gauge, the interior beam will sometimes wobble out of place, which could potentially lead to slight inaccuracy in fine measurements. All around decent tool, though. Fair price for quality.
