♥️🌼Mal...(sigh)🌼♥️
Malcolm Ericson, drummer for Stage Dive, is my favorite character in this series, so far...He’s sweet and vulnerable and sexy and almost manic and so, so funny...Mal is a bad boy...the best kind...You just wanna pick him up and hold him...and, then, wrestle him to the bed...♥️🌼Anne Rollins is a quiet, unassuming, book store employee...she takes care of her little sister and everything, in general...When she attends a party, last minute, with her friends, her teenage crush, Mal Ericson, just, surrounds her...Surround is the only word that fits, because he, basically, just swoops in and takes over her life and makes her his “fake” girlfriend...What could go wrong? Mal’s charisma is magnetic, and Anne’s subdued strength is rare.....Plus, their chemistry is sizzling....♥️🌼I loved Mal in LICK, but I’m just crazy stupid for him now...♥️🌼

Fall in love with Mal Erickson
I've read this book over and over because I just love Mal. He's that charming, crazy clown character with lots of charisma that you just can't resist. In real life he would drive me crazy, but in a book, he's the best. I laughed out loud often, and I'm not an easy lol-er. I wish that it wasn't told solely from Anne's POV because I just didn't understand what was going on in Mal's head most of the time, why he chose to move in with Anne almost instantly, what it was that made him attracted to her, how his initial feelings changed. It seemed sometimes like maybe he just made up that idea that he needed a fake girlfriend in order to have an excuse to help Anne out of her money crunch, but then sometimes it seemed like he wanted her to play girlfriend to give his mother a sense that he was settling down. He didn't seem interested in a physical relationship with her at first-why if he picked her to play his girlfriend out of all the women he knows-and I didn't understand the evolution of their relationship since Anne seemed at sea as well. If it weren't for that, this would be my favorite Stage Dive novel, because Mal is one of the most engaging and charming characters I've ever read (reminds me of Izzy Zanella in Suzanne Brockmann's books). The whole series is fun, but the first two books are the best!

My favorite of the series
Drummers seem to be my go to favorite rockers when I read rock star series, and this one definitely did not disappoint! Mal, on top of being super hot, was so insanely funny, that I almost couldn’t keep up LOL He was funny but not over the top, there was a great balance there. Anne was definitely what he needed to complete his life, and I loved how she went along with his crazy while she also knew when enough was enough, and knew how to pull him back. Once again, just like with book 1, I loved ALMOST everything. And I put this on my review for book 1 as well. Two things that would be in the cons column if I were to make a list: 1) the story is 100% told from Anne’s POV, nothing from Mal. I hated that. 2) the ending, while happy, it felt abrupt and kind of gave me the unfinished feeling.

2nd read, 3 stars. Ended mid story, 1 concert, and twice got fans came at him, that's it?
wow, again! I can't seem to put these books down and I have stuff I need to be doing!!! So far, the first 2 books have been amazing. Great story, great characters, reader-character relationship building is near perfect, action, heartache, excitement, nary a dull moment in either book. I am just tickled pink to have found this author, Kylie Scott. I hope she has written a ton of books because I plan to be one of her biggest fans and read everything she's written! Can't wait to get into Lead next. Bad: stopped / ended mid story, there was no ending :(2nd read: 11/24/19 ***; down to 3 stars. The story was great but way too short, it didn’t even finish, it just stopped right in the middle of the story! The characters were awesome as usual but there just wasn’t enough of them. There was one concert in this book and only a couple of places where Mal was swamped by fans. Yes, it’s a Rock Star book just without much of the Rock Star activities. These books should be at least 350+ pages for the fans, us, to get the full satisfaction of the stories because they are great stories, very well written, just doesn’t give us enough at the end. Actually, there is no ending, it just stops mid story

Brilliant.
I loved Book one Lick. And I loved this book! Even more!Mal was so much more than he promised in Lick!Mal and Anne meet at a party, Mal decided he liked Anne, and that he needs Anne (for reasons of his own) and Anne needs him. So he moves in and convinced Anne to be a pretend Girlfriend."You moved in with me somehow"......."I know what you're gonna say, it's sooner than I thought too. But Davie threw me out today so I figured, why wait?"I just blinked, the rest of me being too frozen to respond."Okay. Long story short, I accidently saw Ev naked" He held up both hands protesting his innocence. "It was only side boob, I swear...But you know what he's like with her....Not my fault she was topless. Anyway, Davie went ballistic.....Harsh words were said. We may have even wrestled slightly. But I forgive him. Love makes you psycho, right?"......"So you moved in with me?"......"Anne, come on. We talked about this last night. If you were gonna have a problem with me moving in, that was the time to bring it up, not now."And that sets the tone for the book! Mal is a beautifully written character! His humour, his playful nature, his childlike vulnerability that comes through sometimes, his manic energy - all hiding something, a pain you occasionally get glimpses of!And Anne was a great character too. She saw down to the real Mal, behind the famous drummer.Together they were perfection, the chemistry, the banter between them was great. And seeing more of the rest of the band, and how close they all are and support each other was beautiful! It was a funny, sexy, at times a little sad, buy hugely enjoyable read, that somehow manages to pass the brilliance of book one!

Mal and Anne's story is going to drum right into your funny bone and into your heart!
This is the second book that I have had the pleasure of reading by Kylie Scott. And let me tell you it has to be the best rock star book I've read to date. Mal is a fun loving drummer in the band called Stage Dive. He features in the first book of the Stage Dive series, Lick. But this book is focused on the story of how he and Anne become a thing. Anne is a quiet girl and has some housing issues that Mal is more then happy to solve. From there the heat is cranked up and the minute Mal and Anne touch there is no separating them. Mal brings humour as a shield so that those he loves and cares about doesn't see his pain. But will Mal let Anne in enough to help sooth and support?Play was really well written and Kylie's writing makes you believe you know her characters intimately and you curse the gods for not having them be real flesh and blood. I guarantee you will laugh, cry, and need to wipe the steam off the mirrors when you sit down and read this book. If you aren't able to read then the audiobook is amazing to listen to! Check out your options because it is worth the book-ation. 100% recommend.

Play
I fell in love with this series last year when I read Lick. I have been waiting for this book ever since. Both my digital copies of Lick and Play are highlighted to within an inch of their lives! Kylie manages to get the perfect balance of sentimental and laugh out loud moments. There are plenty of those in this book!! Mal is hilarious - A wicked sense of humour! He's also quite sensitive and I think that was obvious even in the first book. These guys are a family not just a band, they care for each other. I think that became even more obvious in this story but I do wish that Mal had opened up and become a bit more serious with Anne a little earlier on in the story. Only because once he did, it ended too quickly.Having said that I completely understand why he closed up and used humour to avoid the situation he is hiding. We also get to see a bit more Of David and Ev in this story - they are secondary characters now but I always wanted a bit more so anything I can get, I'll take!Kylie has set up such a good series here with the rest of the bands stories still to come. She's given us 4 rockers who are actually quite different in their own ways, which makes their stories all that bit more mysterious. I can not wait for Jimmy and Ben's stories.

Loving this series!
This series keeps getting better.Mal is the drummer of successful band, Stage Dive. He’s known as the happy, jokey one, who’s the peacemaker. However, his friends have been worried about him, as he’s not been himself and his recent behaviour is not normal. He comes across the a happy-go-lucky guy but he's more complicated than that.Anne is a fixer. Her flatmate has just done a runner, leaving her with an apartment that she can’t pay for on her own, as well as still owing her money. She works in a bookshop with her friend, Reece, who she’s had a crush on for a couple of years but never looked twice at her. Her younger sister is in college and she’s looked after her ever since their mother checked out, when their father abandoned them. So, yeah, she has her issues. One night, Anne and Mal meet at a party, and the next thing she knows, he’s moved in with her and asking her to be his pretend girlfriend. This was a great story. Mal is such a joker – to the point that he was even winding me up!! Anne is completely steamrolled by him and his personality. She’s knows he’s got some other agenda going on but he refuses to talk about it. What starts out as a platonic arrangement turns into something more. The lines become blurred and, against her volition, Anne puts her heart on the line. As the story progresses, Anne’s past and Mal’s secret are revealed. The chemistry between them is fantastic. Told from Anne’s POV, we see her becoming stronger – less of a doormat – and being able to set boundaries of what is acceptable and not. I loved how much Mal cared for her and needed her in his life. Really loving this series and about to start the next book.

Never wanted it to end!!
No idea how but loved the second stage dive book even more than the first! Mal, the leading man was just perfect as the gorgeous rock star, brilliant character that kept a big stupid smile on my face throughout the book. All 4 of the band are in this book like the first and I’m dying to start book 3 in a moment. Can’t tell you what a fun, enjoyable book this was that will definitely make you swoon. Enjoy.
