Solid fid for rope work.
The product is a good rope fid, fast delivery unluckily I was replacing the rope fids I misplaced. Used twice so far, I've got a few lines to work on still.

Sizing could be better
I have 1/4” amsteel to splice. I ordered 1/4” fid first without looking at the sizing chart. My mistake. I then returned it and ordered a 3/8” fid looking at the sizing chart, which states 3/8” fid fits 1/4” rope. Closer, but the 1/4” amsteel still does not fit in the 3/8” fid. Hopefully third times a charm. I’d recommend ordering a size up from the sizing chart, at least for amsteel.Otherwise product is very well made.

PERFECT for 1/2” Stayset Halyard splicing!
Made to throw a splice into 1/2” Nylon braid. Need a little tape to secure the core & bang em out- easy. Perfect & you need one if you work on your own rigging.

The end of the fid the rope goes into is very shallow. Not really enough to secure the end

From Davis S. Read belowThis is stamped by samson and is uselessThe sizing on these, and even the sizing chart are complete nonsense! The "9/16" fid is not 9/16 in oD or iD, and is not designed for 9/16" rope. In fact it is .385" iD, and .468 iD. The chart says you can use this fid with 1/2" rope. I'd pay money to see somebody try that! The seller should just give the actual ID and OD, and let us buy what works. From the information they provide, we have no way of getting the right size. The second issue is that the hole for the rope is not even deburred. It is angle cut on a saw and left that way. You will have to spend some time with a fine round file or dremel tool to fix this thing before you can even use it. I bought 3 sizes and none of them are even close to correct size, or useable out of the package. So I ended up with 4 fids, and I'll post the actual dimensions to hopefully help future buyers: 3/8 = .310 OD x .240 ID 1/2 = .405 OD x .340 ID 9/16 = .468 OD x .385 ID 5/8 = .530 OD x .430 ID
