THANK GOD FOR THIS "KITTY" WARMER
my 2 kitties are always cold in the winter. i saw this and thought it might be the answer. they also like to cuddle together when they sleep, so i bought the biggest size that amazon offered. they took to it right away. it is so adorable to see them cuddled up on it. i put it right beside me on my bed, but it would work anywhere. so the winter went very well for all of us.what inspired me to write this review was my cat, sammi. now abby is on the warmer most of the time, so it surprised me that sammi had such a reaction. here is the story: it was the hottest night of the spring about a week ago. i thought they surely would not want it now. so i moved it and replaced it with a very soft small blanket. when sammi discovered what i had done she kept smelling the blanket and crying. smell and cry . . . smell and cry. she kept this up for about 10 minutes until i put the warmer back. then she immediately went back on it, in spite of the hot weather. the smelling and crying stop immediately. she had told me what she wanted, and i finally got the message. she had won.so the warmer stays on the bed no matter how hot it gets. i am so glad i got this. knowing how it help my cats get through the winter . . . and now the summer! it is invaluable to sammi, abby and me. thank you, amazon, for bringing it to us. please don't ever stop carrying it.

Works great for our outdoor cat
Yes, we're those people who keep their cat outdoors. No, I dont want her inside shredding my furniture, or barfing on everything in sight. So sue me.At the same time, I would prefer (most days) that she doesn't freeze to death when we have those cold spells. This Playapup warmer mat looked like it would help with just that.I (or my cat, rather) used this mat for most of the winter, and she loved it. She was on it constantly, and would get mad if I ever made her move off it (to change the cover). It was cheap, it kept her warm, and it has a washable fleece cover, so for the most part, I couldnt be more pleased. The ONLY negative I have (and the reason I took off a star), is the pressure activation didnt seem to work correctly. It seemed to always be activated. Of course, I didnt check it daily, but I would occasionally check it when she was not on it (and didnt appear to have been for at least a few minutes), and it was still hot. So it probably wasted a bit of energy. But aside from that, a great product, and worth every penny.

Best pet control EVER - My cat won't budge off this thing.
Although this is advertised for pups, I purchased it for a cat.Thought my cat could use the largest size (20") because he seemed to be curling up in a circle and always half on, half off his 16". I now feel he is just as happy with his 16". The cat looooves these pads! I've bought two more as back ups. All heat pads that I've purchased thoughout my life eventually quit working, so I anticipate the same will happen with these. Especially with the heavy use that this pad is getting by the cat. Love the chew proof cord. Initially thought the chew proof aspect was unnecessary as my cat has never chewed cords. Yet, for whatever reason, he suddenly decided to chew this particular cord. Really like that the pad is only on when the cat is on it - saves energy costs.I also like that the cover is easily removable for washing. The pad does heat up with the cats body. Reviewers stating their pads are not heating up must have defective pads or are not giving the pad the chance to warm up. Holding your hand on it alone is not a ideal test; sit on it if you really feel you must test it. True test is going to be your pet and how happy he/she is.

UPDATE NOT SAFE.
UPDATE, problem with the description "safe" and "year" were incorrect. Pic shows the surprising lack of safety. Also the unit itself lists the need for 120v 60hz at 20 watts, why is it being fed 12vdc at 1.650amps.Love it, was looking for my Fiance and found her sleeping on it... Star E. Knight is a service dog recently retired because of a mobility problem with hips and knees. I was waiting for this to come back in stock and glad we did. I plan on buying a few more, and one for me and Fiance, going to be winter time foot warmers at our desks, been having to shew the other "kids" off it so Star can use it. Anyhow, the dog loves it. Its got a bit of a smell out of the box and if I smell it Star sure does. Took her a bit of getting use to, I read the instructions to Star but she just stared at me then left. Automatic on/off is hardcore technology for dogs especially when there is a delay involved. Try teaching your dog to sit by giving a cookie 5 minutes later. I tricked the heat into staying on with a weight. It took minutes for her to start seeking it out on her bed, we have a king sized bed for cuddle pad in our home office. They don't get up on our personal sleeping bed, we are mega dog folks but there is a line. Heat up was in 3 to 5 min and what I would describe as soothing comfortable all day long bliss. Fiance agreed. As far as long term performance I will check back. The smell I mentioned earlier dissipated quickly out of the box and smelled just like any human heating pad. A vinyl or new car smell, not worth taking off a point for that.

Heated Dog Mat
I purchased this product over a month ago and so far I've been extremely happy with it. I put it under the zip cover of my 12 year old dogs bed and she loves it. It warms up nicely when she lays on it and turns off when she gets up. The temperature is also perfect; not hot, but warm. I only gave this product 4 stars because of the size. I had read from other purchasers that the 'large' dog bed wasn't very large and that is true. I would consider the 'large' to be more of a 'medium' size. My dog is a 50 pound dog and when she curls up, she fits perfectly...I just wish that it was a little larger so she could stretch out on it. We will see how it holds up over time. :-)
